McCabe Park Community Center is the home base for the weekly Wednesday Achilles International – Nashville workouts. Many of the Saturday morning runs also begin and end here as well. This beautiful, neighborhood community center is a perfect meeting place, located in the heart of the West Nashville Sylvan Park neighborhood. McCabe has easy access to the Richland Creek Greenway, (McCabe’s loop) as most runners call it.
During the warmer months, Achilles athletes and guides meet outdoors at McCabe and utilize the greenway for running, walking, or rolling. When the days are shorter, during the winter months, the group meets indoors in a community room before heading out into the Richland Creek neighborhood for their workout. There is a full fitness center with treadmills, elliptical trainers, stationary bikes, weights, resistance machines, and mats for indoor workouts. Many Achilles athletes also take advantage of the indoor walking/running track, especially during inclement weather.
In addition to being a site for Achilles runs, McCabe offers a wide variety of activities and programs for people of all ages and abilities. Prices are very reasonable! Some of the programs and the facility offerings include:
- Exercise classes (e.g. ZUMBA, boot camp, senior strength, yoga)
- Game room
- Outdoor playground (Children of our Achilles members love this!)
- Club room available for meeting space
